Job Title: Summer Student – Soccer Programming and Registrar Assistant  

Employer: Byron Soccer Club, London, Ontario  

Term: Summer Position (approx. June 16th – Aug 22nd)  

Reports To: Technical Director  

Position Summary:  

Byron Soccer Club is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and highly motivated Summer Student to assist with the delivery and administration of various soccer programs, including competitive program, Tier 3 program, tournaments, and summer camps. This individual will play a key role in supporting the technical team, organizing schedules, updating rosters, managing communications, maintaining the club's website, and assisting in coaching youth teams. The position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on coaching experience while contributing to the administrative operations of a growing soccer club.

Key Responsibilities:  

Program Support & Coaching:  

  • Assist the Technical Director and coaching staff in the delivery of soccer programs, including competitive teams, Tier 3 teams, and summer camps.  
  • Coach youth soccer teams as assigned, providing instruction, leadership, and mentorship to players of various skill levels. Deliver age-appropriate drills, activities, and game strategies, while fostering a positive and inclusive team environment. 
  • Assist in planning and executing station based training sessions, ensuring that they align with the club’s development goals and program objectives.  

Scheduling & Organization:  

  • Create, organize, and update team rosters, training schedules, and playing schedules.  
  • Assist in organizing field assignments and ensuring proper equipment and resources are available.  
  • Track and update schedules and assignments as needed, ensuring all participants and coaches are informed of changes in a timely manner. 

Communications:  

  • Draft, send, and manage club-wide communications, including email newsletters and important updates.  
  • Ensure that club-wide communications contain accurate, up-to-date information regarding schedules, events, and announcements.  
  • Assist with member inquiries and respond to general communication needs.  

Administrative Support:  

  • Create, organize, and maintain survey forms, reports, and other documentation as needed.  
  • Assist with data entry and tracking of registration, attendance, and program feedback.  
  • Perform other administrative duties and tasks as assigned by the Technical Director or other club staff.  


Additional Responsibilities:  

  • Assist with special projects or tasks as required to support the club’s mission and operations.  
  • Provide support during tournaments, summer camps, and other club events, including assisting with on-site logistics and participant coordination.  

The ideal candidate will possess:  

  • Coaching experience, or an interest in developing coaching skills, is preferred.  
  • Relevant coaching certifications or be willing to obtain them.  
  • Enrolled in a post-secondary education program (preferably in sports management, education, administration, or a related field).  
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.  
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with website content management tools.  
  • A passion for soccer and youth sports.  
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  

Working Conditions:  

  • Hours: 40 hours per week, with flexible hours Monday to Friday and weekend work required for training sessions, tournaments, and events
  • Compensation: $20 per hour
  • On-site at Byron Soccer Club fields and facilities, with remote work for administrative tasks.  
  • Opportunities to engage with coaches, athletes, and parents within the club community.  
  • Occasional local travel.
